The Hidden Operation Behind Chuck E. Cheese's: Casinos for Children
I love arcades and other kid-friendly venues, especially Chuck E. Cheese’s. But I realized today that it is pretty much a casino for kids. Sure there is no smog of cigarettes or temptation of alcohol around, though it would make these places ten times more entertaining, but it has all of the makings of a casino. Some of the subtle ones include a lack of windows. Sure most arcades have huge windows in the front, but once you get into the arcade areas with all of the games and everything, there are pretty much no windows. Or clocks. If we didn’t have cell phones or closing times, kids could pretty much get lost in these places for days. Then there are all the bright and artificial lights, along with food, so you pretty much could stay there for as long as you’d like. But these places work the same way as casinos, but worse because they are conning kids. They create rigged games and high winnings on low probabilities and the customers are very similar but instead of being drunk out of their minds, they are too naive to understand what’s going on! Some of the games are even carbon copies of games in casinos. There are slot machines and wheels of fortune. They get kids to bet a lot to get big winnings, even with low likeliness. It is a beautiful trap for the perfect victim. They are pretty much playhouse casinos, which pretty much rake in companies like Chuck E. Cheese's a lot of money.
