Love The Way You Lie

Lying is an interesting social idea. The idea that you would not tell someone the truth at first seems completely immoral, but at times, it also seems necessary. But lying isn't something that everyone can do. We obviously know that there are good and bad liars. I would like to say that in certain situations I am good at lying and bad at lying. It is very easy to spot a bad liar, whether you are an expert lie-detector or just a regular person. Bad liars pause a lot in their story, create implausible stories, and display other visual signs of lying such as no eye contact and fidgeting. On the other hand, it is very difficult to catch a good liar, but that is because it is very difficult to be a good liar.

Now a good liar must be good at two different things. He must be good at executing the lie and he must be good at creating the lie. These are the two crucial parts of the lie. If a lie is based on a story with too many plot holes, you can appear to be truthful, but any sensible person would catch the error in your lies. If a liar keeps displaying those telltale signs of a liar, he could tell something that actually happened and appear to be a liar. The difficulty is training yourself to suppress the natural occurrences that happen when you lie and being creative and quick enough to make up believable stories on the fly. This is why, given any amount of time, any one person can be a good liar for even a second. This is because a good, well-thought out story can create a sense of doubt. And once that doubt appears, the liar simply has to continue with the ruse by maintaining his composure. This story can be created beforehand where you have the ability to look for obvious holes in your plan. It is harder to come up with a story on the spot. Obviously there are stories that seem to work without fail such as sickness or family business, because both are typically taboo to discuss. But there are times where basic excuses won't cut it. And this is where the good liars thrive. They can come up with excuses for almost any situation and they can persuade you that this situation is true. The problem that good liars have is that they can not be paranoid of being caught for lying. Once you begin to lie, you can't show any weakness or doubts. If you begin to suspect that someone has caught you, continue living the lie and deny everything.

There is always a risk you run when you lie. Obviously, if someone cared enough, they could check out your alibi, which usually only occurs if you lied to the police or someone absolutely crazy. Another thing that could happen is someone who knows the truth could rat you out. This is the problem with everything. Lying, along with almost every other human interaction, relies on the unexpected nature of the human being. Any liar, good or bad, could succeed or fail based on how someone else reacts. But if you're going to be a good liar, you need two things. You need a story and you need composure. Once you have that, the world is your oyster.

P.S. This is not a guide on how to lie. This is just some thoughts on lying.
